Photochemistry in snowpacks is repsonsible for fluxes of nitorgen oxides from snowpacks and the generation of Hydroxyl radicals within the snowpack. The chemistry can change the oxidasing capccity of the atmosphere above the snowpack and may alter ice-core records of previous climate.
